Chronic subdural hematoma. A silent danger!!!

A silent Disease !! Chronic subdural hematoma!! Any of the elderly in your family has these symptoms??? Headache,  confusional state,  weakness of limbs,  psychomotor slowing,  gait abnormalities  memory disturbances Urinary incontinence Are they on aspirin or any other blood thinners?? Do they have a recent history of head injury?? They might have a Chronic subdural hematoma!! A chronic subdural hematoma (SDH) is a collection of blood in the brain. It is present between the brain and the dura which covers the brain.  It usually begins forming several days or weeks after bleeding initially starts. Bleeding is usually due to a trivial head injury.  Usually the diagnosis is missed because of the late onset of symptoms. Surgery is very rewarding even in patients with advanced age. One of my recent patient was 87 years old!!

Spinal cord tumour

This 49 year old lady had a spinal tumour, D1 meningioma. She was unable to walk and had severe weakness of both legs. Tumour was totally excised and patient has recovered fully and is able to walk now.
